I’ve Longed For This

I’ve been hoping Peach Coke would find its way to the US ever since I first tried it in Japan several years ago.

A few years ago, we vacationed in Japan and one of our stops wat at the Fushimi Inari Shrine in Kyoto. Along the path of the Thousand Torii Gates, at one of several shops selling snacks and refreshments, I bought a bottle of Peach Coca-Cola.

Peach Coke may sound weird, but it’s actually a pretty good flavor combination. (So is Tropical, by the way, but I digress.)

At the time I remember thinking, if only there was a Peach Coke Zero. That’d be even better.

As far as I can tell, Peach Coke is a standard offering in Japan, but nowhere else—unless you count the limited edition Georgia Peach Coke, which is a local variety and hard to find outside Georgia. So no Peach Coke for me, much less Peach Coke Zero.

Until this week.

Peach Coke Zero!

I walked up to the local Wendy’s for lunch one day and there I found it. The Freestyle machine had it. Peach Coke Zero! It’s still as yummy as I remembered it.

I wonder if they’ll ever make it widely available in cans or bottles. Probably not. But at least I know where to get my fix.
