- Got rid of the paginated landing page (it was just to slooooow) in favor of a Welcome page and a separate Latest Posts page.
April 6, 2025

- Fixed erroneous RSS feed URLs in template meta tags
- Added my résumé
July 22, 2024
- All three blogs (Weblog, Photos, and Scraps) are now using a single template each for all posts and pages. No more separate templates for different kinds of content! Much easier for me to maintain that way!
July 19, 2024
- Changed the headings font to Livory. Unlike Gelica, it has nice ligatures. And I have a thing for ligatures.
July 17, 2024
- Header/Banner images on all three blogs now (re)sized correctly (but no longer clickable).
July 16, 2024
- Navigation/link colors are now distinct for each of the three blogs
July 9, 2024
- Eliminated tabbed navigation in order to simplify things
- Now using same style sheet as my photography blog; This includes using the same fonts everywhere, so now have sans-serif text (Fira) serif headings (Gelica) across the photos and main blog; The scraps blog has not yet been integrated to use the common styles.
- Titles and summaries (from post/page metadata) are now included automatically by the templates, which means that I have duplicate titles on a lot of stuff until I go back and update those entries.

December 22, 2023
- Converted footer links to (SVG) icons
- Added a bunch of new footer links too
December 12, 2023
- I’m on a mission to simplify, and in that vein I decided to remove the mastodon comments and associated JavaScript from my blog posts. There are links to Mastodon and Micro.blog everywhere, so I’m hoping that’s sufficient.
- Added signoff (“Cheers!” followed by the roundel) on my weblog post template.
December 8, 2023
- Reorganized the navigation links at the top of every page so that it’s more consistent with how things look over on micro.blog; no more drop-down menu!
- Shuffled the footer around a bit too, and moved some items down there
December 6, 2023
- I’ve discontinued mirroring my Mastodon posts (toots) here. Instead, I’ve been experimenting with using Micro.blog for that purpose. I haven’t committed fully to using it long term, but having the toots mirrored here was getting to be a hassle either way. More on this soon.
November 20, 2023
- Changed fonts to FF Tisa and Montserrat
- Implemented mixed styles for unordered list that allow me to mix icon/mask, image, and emoji markers
November 8, 2023
- Replaced the dark mode checkbox with a toggled pair sun and moon icons
- Fixed alignment issues in icons at top and bottom of page
- Updated footer to include Tinylytics goodies
- Created a Colophon page and moved the web automation info in there
- Updated hamburger menu to match more closely the links on the home page
November 5, 2023
- Retired blogrollbot. Clever, but I wasn’t getting value from it. I use an RSS reader for this. Went back to a static listing.
- Updated landingpagebot to split recent content across two pages: one for recent microblog (Mastodon) toots and the other for recent weblog posts.
- Books (from Goodreads) and other reading material (from Mastodon) are now combined on the now page in a single “Reading” category, rather than in separate (“Books” and “Other Reading”) categories.
October 20, 2023
- New landingpagebot that generates a static landing page for the weblog, including a new ”featured post”
- Updated schedules to run some of the bots less frequently. For example, the Trakt and Goodreads bots now run only once an hour during the day.
- Pastebot now pulls in all recent records from DynamoDB. (Previously, items in the Watching and Books categories were omitted. Now I can use the paste to make corrections to any record after it has been posted.
- Hacked microbot to look for toots with the
#reading
,#listening
, and#tinkering
hashtags in my Mastodon feed. If found, those are used to add items to the Now page data store in DynamoDB rather the mirroring as blog posts. This gives me an easier way to add content to my now page without having to edit the paste manually. - I reported last month that as a result of adding daily executions of blogrollbot and over 100 daily executions of microbot I was expecting another $0.15–$0.20 on my AWS bill. It turns out I was very wrong. The actual increase was...zero!
