Tweaking My Weblog Fonts
The primary font on my weblog, which until today was Fira Sans (Google Fonts), has been bugging me for a while. So I decided to make a change.
When I first built this blog several months ago, I started with the default omg.lol template and hacked it to apply ideas I brazenly stole from Apple Annie and a few other people. I wanted a distinctive look so I chose Fira Sans—probably because it reminded me vaguely of ITC Officina Sans, an old favorite.

After living with it a while, though, I felt it was a bit heavy. I switched to FF Meta because it strikes me as a (slightly?) more sophisticated typeface that is just a bit more readable. I actually used FF Meta Correspondence here because I’m not wild about digits with descenders. I also decided to rip of the Chicago Manual of Style’s (16th edition) combination of FF Meta and FF Tisa (for headings).
I think it works. Mostly. Is the kerning a little wonky? What do you think?
