Web/Tech Updates
🗜️ Thanks to the active CSS community on Mastodon, I came across this post, where a learned a better technique for aligning my inline emoji-like images to the middle of a font’s cap-height.
🎀 I updated my personal logo and favicon, and learned a smarter approach for adopting “a minimal set of icons that fits most modern needs.” I made a minor change to how I style my navigation tabs too, to give a more streamlined appearance.
💰 I moved the last of my registered domains to Porkbun from Amazon’s Route 53. They are now the official DNS registrar of all things Mihobu. AWS isn’t that much more expensive, but it’s nice to have everything in one place.
📛 Anne says that all blogs should have names and I agree! I came up with a few new ones but the results of this poll suggest I need to keep working on it.
NASA Kennedy Space Center
🚀 We went to Florida to visit friends for the long holiday weekend, and originally planned to visit Universal Studios on Saturday. It rained nonstop though, so we decided to head out to Cape Canaveral and visit the Kennedy Space Center instead. I hadn’t been there in maybe 30 years. It’s set up like a miniature Tomorrowland, with exhibits and attractions centered around the Space Shuttle and Apollo programs, the Astronaut Hall of Fame, and commercial space travel.
🛸 For me, the highlight was definitely getting to see Atlantis up close. But the Saturn V rocket was pretty impressive too!
😔 There’s also a very nice tribute to the astronauts who gave their lives aboard Challenger and Columbia, a stirring reminder of how much the space program meant to many of us Gen-Xers when we were young. Like many, I’ll never forget where I was and what I was doing at those moments.

TV and Movies
⚽ Next Goal Wins falls short of being a top shelf dramedy, but it’s a fun movie.
🐴 Finished Slow Horses season 2. On to season 3.
👗 Episode 1 of The New Look did not excite me. Probably will not go back for more.
👮♂️ Still hanging with Criminal Record although I’m sure I don’t know why.
