Alone No More (Weeknotes

Here’s what happened during the week of March 11–17, 2024.

I’ve been on some really nice hikes since I arrived in Tucson.

This Week

💥 The week started off very badly when a situation came to a head first thing Monday morning. I took an impromptu “sick” day. I rode my bike for 26 miles on the Tucson bike path, which helped me feel better.

😄 The week ended on a much higher note and I’m a much happier camper now that my wife is here. (She had been unable to come out to Tucson with me initially because of scheduling conflicts.) ❤️

🐦 On two separate occasions, I saw roadrunners! This was a first for me, and I even got a short movie of one of them.

📷 I’ve been on several nice bike rides and hikes, but I’ve been lazy about posting my photographs. There are a few though: here, here, and here.

🛩 There’s an Air Force base nearby and apparently they’re training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s, which are very loud when the fly by.

🥧 I celebrated Pi Day by attending a local fundraiser to pick up a slice each of Heath Bar pie and Toll House pie. One was breakfast and one was dinner.

🧑‍💻 I used Picrew.me to create a Star Trek avatar. Not sure I have a use for this, but it was fun to make.

⏰ I turned of notifications from the Streaks because I found they always came at very inopportune times and the app wasn’t really helping me to habituate new things. Maybe I need to rethink this.

🌹 The first round of Battle of the Blooms 2024 is in the books. 16 days, 32 flowers, 232 votes cast. Now that 16 blooms have been eliminated, the remaining 16 are battling it out in the “Sweet 16” round. Which bloom will come out on top?

Reading

🍷 Still reading The Drops of God series by by Tadashi Agi. Although the bones of the story seen in the TV version are there, there are also a lot of extraneous threads too. Not what I expected, but I’m enjoying it all the same.

Watching

🚀 Finished watching For All Mankind season 4. I still like this show, but there were a few major eyeroll moments. Has this show jumped the shark? If there’s a fifth season, I hope they do better.
