Weeknotes: Week 13, 2023
🚗 Getting Started Inspired by Marco’s weekly journal, I’m going to take the weeknotes writing format for a test drive. I’ve been making notes for several days and I quickly realized that most of the good stuff is at the weekend, and the weekdays are slow by comparison. So I’m going to start out posting my updates mid-week. With that, here are my ramblings for the week ending 5th April.
🔪 Off the Air After slicing through my coax last month I finally got around to replacing the old RG-8X with some brand new RG-213. Only to learn that my Yaesu FT-DX1200 transceiver is on the blink. I shipped it off to California for repairs. I hope it doesn’t take too long. 😬
✅ Electronic QSLs I set up my eQSL account and what an experience that’s been! I think maybe I’ll write a separate blog post about that.
🧩 Puzzling Finally finished this 1,500-piece monstrosity, after my daughter was sure it’d still be sitting there when comes home again in a few weeks.
💸 Watch Those AWS Charges I got my March AWS bill and realized that if you don’t clean up after your experiments it can cost real money. Fortunately for me, not too much real money this time.
✏️ More Pencils Picked up a box each of Blackwings Volume 200 and Volume 20 pencils. I grabbed a one-step long point sharpener too.
🤳 Hipsta Pics Thanks to @maique for turning me on to the new Hipstamatic X app. It’s fun but I haven’t quite figured out how this is going to fit into my overall photography strategy (such as it is).
Time to Ride Warmer weather is on the way, so I’m working on getting my new bike ready for the season.
👰♀️ Finding the Words A few months ago a good friend of mine asked me to officiate her May wedding. It’s time to buckle down and figure out what I’m going to say.
🧾 Taxes I don’t have the patience to do my own income taxes so I sat down with my tax preparer for the annual ritual this week. It’s much later than usual this year, I don’t know why.
