Weeknotes: Week 16, 2023

I was quoted in Monday's Axios Columbus follow-up on QR code menus. TL;DR They’re okay in a pinch, but not for a proper meal.
📕 People are still buying a little book I self-published a few years ago. Despite selling several dozen copies, it’s only ranked #2,562,592 in the “Books” category on Amazon.
I wrote a new Lambda function to pull the week’s Now page items from DynamoDB and generate a formatted list that I can include in these weeknotes posts. Also tweaked the now page updater to include all items from the last week, not just the last five.
I “celebrated” World Amateur Radio Day this year without a radio. Yaesu has it and I’m confident they’ll fix it up good as new, but I hope it doesn’t take too much longer.
🦋 Thanks to @maique, I’ve got an account on Bluesky Social. Seems like a lot of creatives out there today, and it’ll be interesting to see how it develops.
The Ted Lasso “Sunflowers” episode (S3.E6) might just be the best one ever.
I continued outfitting my new bicycle this week, installing new Ergon GP1 grips and transferring my split saddle and mirror from my old bike. More cold weather this week so I only got about 14 miles in.
🍜 Welcomed a work colleague at the house for dinner and and evening of conversation. Always a treat to get to know people outside the office.
I adopted “Square MB” (U+3386) at The Unicode Consortium’s Adopt-a-Character page. Nice call outs on Unicode’s sponsor page and Twitter feed too.
🥏 My daughter’s college ultimate team stayed with us while visiting for a tournament. The results on the field weren’t what they were hoping for, but we had plenty of bagels, hot water, and streaming video for them to enjoy while they were here.
