Weeknotes: Week 38, 2023

New stereoscopic lens; Learning Obsidian; New iOS version annoys; continuing to add content to RWAU; The usual media highlights

Here are the highlights from the week of Sep 18 to Sep 24.

Still getting my feet wet with Obsidian. I love that it supports tagging and graph view. Am now contemplating how (or if) to manage my folder structure. It looks like the big hurdle is going to be migrating my OneNote content over. The Importer plugin sorta works, but makes a big mess.

📷 I have a nostalgic fondness for stereoscopic photography so I picked up a new Loreo stereo lens. I don’t have a digital SLR any more so I chose a Canon mount and grabbed a used Canon 450D for pretty cheap. Now I have a dedicated 3D photography rig. I started a Flickr album where I’ll be posting my pics. I also have a new viewer on the way.

📱 I’m pretty annoyed that the new iOS version took away my ability to assign custom sounds to individuals for incoming text messages. You can still do it for incoming voice calls, but not messages. Really bummed.

🧑‍🍳 I’m continuing to add content to my other OMG.lol blog site, which I call Recipes We Actually Use. It’s a long-term project, so new recipes go in at a rate of a few per week. Eventually, it might be actually useful to someone other than me! This week I added one of my all-time favorites, Eggplant Parmesan. That reminds me, I really need to add photos to the recipes. Well, there’s one more thing for the to-do list.
