Weeknotes: Week 40, 2023

Here are the highlights from the week of Oct 2 to Oct 8.
-
🚲 I bought a new Priority Turi bicycle a few months ago. They shipped it to me in a box and I assembled it. I love everything about the bike, but the wheels were a little out of true right from the start. I rode it that way for a while but I finally got around to taking in to REI to get them trued up. The folks there took care of it in about thirty minutes—no appointment necessary! I love that place.

🐧 I can’t find the thing. I’ve looked high and low for it with no luck. I’m pretty sure that after moving the thing from house to house to house, and not using the thing in many years, I decided at some point to throw it away. Now of course I need the thing. The upside is that not having the thing forced me to reassess my office and make some adjustments that have left me with a mostly better work space. Silver lining!
-
🍲 I’m continuing to add recipes to Recipes We Actually Use a little at a time. Some of the recent additions include Amish Apple Pie, Perfect Pumpkin Bread, and Skillet Baked Ziti—just to name a few.
-
☠️ On Wednesday we had to suffer through half a day without any Internet service. The Horror! Oddly enough, our cellular service became erratic at exactly the same time. In fact, it cut out completely several times throughout the afternoon. AT&T assured me that service would be restored by 3:00 AM. I didn’t stay awake to find out but it was functioning normally by morning. The only downside was that we had to listen to the Crew game on AM Radio with static and fading like crazy. Not sure my family appreciated it, but it kinda made me smile.
-
🖥 I updated my Mac Mini M1 to MacOS Sonoma. So far no problems so that’s nice.
-
🥩 Both girlies were home from college this weekend so we took the opportunity to have a family dinner out Friday night. We went to a place here in Columbus said to be the best steakhouse in town. It was nice, but I was not blown away by either the ambiance or the food. We had fun together though, just the four of us, and that made it a great night out.
