Recap of Week 42 (Weeknotes

Goings On
🧑💻 At the end of week 41, an opportunity presented itself. As they say, “when opportunity knocks, you should answer.” So I applied for a new job within the company where I currently work. As it turns out, I had a first interview on Tuesday and a second on Friday. Fingers crossed!
🔐 I updated my PGP key and Keyoxide proof so it’s got all the new domains I’ve added recently.
📆 Other than that, work’s been keeping me pretty busy by day and not much has been happening in the evening. I discovered that if I mark myself “out of office” I can get a lot of uninterrupted work done. I think I’ll be doing that more often!
🏃♂️ I talked a couple of my coworkers into running a 5k at the upcoming AWS re:Invent conference in Las Vegas in December. They’re both accomplished athletes and I am decidedly not so I started a 5k training program. I doubt I’ll be able to run the whole thing straight through, but I’m hoping at least to get the running intervals longer and the walking intervals shorter.

🤖 A lot of people panned “AI is the New Plastic” by Linus Lee as being “out of touch,” but it’s actually a pretty good analogy. A lot of people conflate “AI” with generative AI and that’s where we get into trouble. Gen AI is experiencing a massive hype bubble right now, but AI has already transformed industries. More to come.
Watching
🐴 Slow Horses season 4, episodes 4 and 5
🚙 Will & Harper is a nice film that reveals the challenges that trans people are going through every day. I hope it will help change some minds out there.
🐺 Princess Mononoke is an interesting film that I enjoyed much more that Spirited Away, although it’s probably not one I’ll come back to again and again.
Stay weird, friends.
