Weeknotes No. 25-39

It was a short week, since we took Friday to take a long weekend in Tucson, Arizona.
-
On Saturday we drove to Bisbee (about an hour and a half southeast of Tucson) to see Lowell’s old cars, the Lavender Pit, and the Copper Queen Mine. We also passed through Tombstone (a tourist trap if ever there was one) and the Bisbee Breakfast Club.
-
On Sunday we visited the San Xavier Del Bac Mission.
-
Here are a few more random snapshots from our visit.
Books
-
Finished: Children of Ruin by Adrian Tchaikovsky
-
Still reading: Killed by a Traffic by Wes Marshall
Posts
Reading material that caught my eye this week:
-
“Who Will Replace Charlie Kirk?” by Clara Molot (Air Mail)
- There will always be another dirtbag.
-
“World Leader Compares Trump to Hitler in Front of Entire U.N.” (New Republic)
- Was anyone listening?
-
- Finally, a generation that has their priorities straight. What’s wrong with the 2%? This doesn’t bode well for companies who need to supply their talent pipelines with young people. They’re going to have to come to terms with a workforce that isn’t willing to be bullied and worked to death. This generation might well seek livelihoods in other countries. I wouldn’t blame them.
-
“Why I gave the world wide web away for free” by Tim Berners-Lee (The Guardian)
- Nice idea, but he’s pissing into the wind.
-
“Trump flouts the rules. What happened to our checks and balances?” by Fareed Zakaria (The Washington Post)
- The government is officially corrupt. America as it was is over. Not sure what’s next, but it seems extremely unlikely that we’ll be able to reel it back in through normal elections.
-
“Make a Damn Website” by Louie Mantia
- This is exactly right.
Fun Thing
- Do you need luggage for your tires?
See you next time.
